Wallenstein festivities
Cheb is a city that is proud of its rich history. Among other things, this place is connected with Duke Albrecht of Wallenstein, who visited it several times. The reason for his visits was primarily to recruit soldiers, acquire new weapons and gather troops. However, his last visit was fatal for him. Albrecht from Wallenstein was murdered on February 25, 1634 in Pachelbel’s house – today’s Cheb museum on the square. Residents of Cheb and tourists liked to remember Valdštejn’s visits to Cheb and their atmosphere and still remember them today.
The festivities will take place from August 25 to August 26, 2023.

“Near death”…events in Cheb during the Thirty Years’ War
An expert lecture on Butler’s regiment, the equipment and armament of an ordinary soldier, about everyday life in the camp and about the “bloody feast” that was prepared at Chebské Castle for the last loyal officers of the deposed generalissimo of the imperial troops Albrecht of Wallenstein.
Entrance fee 50 CZK, tour capacity is limited, we recommend buying tickets in advance (from 1 July 2023)

Official opening of the Valdštejn festivities with the mayor of the city, invited guests and citizens of Cheb.

Played tour of the city with a final surprise in the Cheb Museum.

The Thirty Years’ War
The period military encampment is broken by the hardened mercenaries of Duke Frýdlantský.

Knight Tournament
Tournament on horses performed by the best Czech knights with many years of experience and training.
Knight tournaments were primarily a medieval affair. In the early Baroque, certain exhibitions became a matter of court festivities.

Music of the early Italian Baroque
Csaba Nagy – Theorba
A concert of classical music performed by an outstanding Hungarian instrumentalist on Renaissance lute, viola da mano, theorbo and baroque lute, who specializes in music of the 16th and 17th centuries.
